INLINE SPEED SKATING
Inline speed skating is a competitive wheeled sport which evolved from the traditional quad skates. Many Inline skaters also compete on ice depending on the season.
So what does skating involve? The aim, like in running, is to be the first individual to cross the finish line with races varying in length from 100m to marathons.

Inline speed skating is a physically demanding sport and involves a high degree of technique, unlike any other sport. Athletes that compete in this sport train the following fitness components:

-
Cardiovascular Fitness
-
Strength & Power
-
Agility & Co-ordination
-
Core & Balance

MY SKATING CAREER
Many people ask me... 'How on earth did you get into the sport of Speed Skating?' Well my skating career actually started when I was 8 years old at my old Primary School in Birmingham, where two coaches from a local skating club taught us how to skate for an extra curricular activity during the summer holidays. At this age I was fearless and took to the sport instantly. At the end of the session I was invited to the track where they train, and as they say... the rest is history. I found my passion.

I started competing when I was 13 years old at both UK and International events. Training included skating 2 times a week, with 3 days including off-skate drills and conditioning. I often attended the gym independently to increase my cardio and strength around these sessions.
It weren't long before I was selected to represent Team GB. I had the honor of competing for my country for 3 years at both Europeans and World Championships and made some incredible memories that I will treasure and experience which is invaluable in the sport and fitness industry.

Throughout this time I have also won 22 x British Records and I currently hold the British record for the marathon event, which is still holding at 1hr.20mins.

In recent years, I took on the role of Team GB Manager for Inline Speed Skating. This involved scouting for potential Team GB skaters, conducting intensive training sessions to 30 plus skaters and producing selection criteria which included times for skaters to achieve in order to get onto Team GB (which is still used to this day). I also organised development sessions to help cadets and junior skaters develop their skills and knowledge towards speed skating, providing them with the preparation and skills required if they wanted to try for Team GB.
